Voting is not going to change the deep rooted problems our political system is currupted with. The fact of the matter is that until we as a people stand up against the ENTIRE system TOGETHER and DEMAND change we will never be able to sway the direction our society is heading in. REVOLUTION! Lib, Rep, Con, whatever.... we need to come together and fight this BEAST together or we will continue to elect the better of two evils every 4 years..... Political Reform is the Answer.

Wow-

that last post, you sound like you are insane.....look heres the deal. Your born, you go to school, you educate yourself, party a little bit (80+ Dead shows 1985-1995 woo hoo!) you meet a girl, you get married, have a beautiful daughter, she drives you nutty! You work your ASS off to try and save for her college. You and your wife both collapse in bed around 10:30PM, on the weekends, ya maybe get to the movies, on Wed. nights you have DOMINOES and watch LOST. THATS IT BUB!! Heres a newsflash for ya Bub: people dont have time for all the nonsense your spewing. Dont get me wrong, im no raging Conservative but Capitalism is a GOOD thing, understand. Iraq war, yeah, probably not necessary, but now he have to SLOWLY pull out and turn it over to the Iraqis NOT "leave immediately" like that dope Ted Kennedy thinks, that would be a BAD thing. I'll have to say, im not a HUGE Bush fan, and yeah, war SUCKS, but Republicans arent the only ones that start them. Look, i didnt think it was ESSENTIAL to go into IRAQ and remove the Hussein regime, but we did, and that being said, it would be nice to hear on some of the news networks BESIDES Fox about all the GOOD things that are happening over there i.e. all the filtration systems we are setting up so people can FINALLY get clean drinking water, the schools that are being built and reopened so kids can FINALLY get an education, the human rights that women over there are FINALLY receiving. Look, im very liberal on alot of issues (abortion, NRA, gay marraige) but when it comes to security and taxes you can call me a Republican. I was a mile away on 9/11 when those towers fell and watched it all with my own 2 eyes, i dont EVER want to see that again, and i want my 3 year old little girl to have a safe happy life. You cant blame the Bush regime for everything, some thing, yes,m but NOT everything. If you think that if we renounce the existence of Isreal, open up our borders, put John Kerry in the White House, and pull our troops out of the middle east, that fantical Muslims will STOP trying to blow up? Wrong, they will try even harder. I got ZERO problems with the Patriot Act, wire-tapping and Homeland Security, none. I just dont wanna get blown up again. Oh yeah, and PLEASE keep my taxes as low as possible. Thank you and Mazel-tov

I'm glad Capitalism has gotten you everything you want in life. Although I don't agree with or exactly understand completely where you are coming from in some respects, I do respect your differing opinion.

But sadly, Capitalism has turned an entire nation into people too busy to make an effort for change or see/feel a need to change things for future generations. The way things are going today, there may not be a future for our children. If you fail to see where I am coming from or think my comments are completely insane, so be it. That's OK, I'm not the type that years from now will ever turn and say "I told you so". I'm the type of person who hopes that his thoughts might spur some intelligent thinking on the part of Americans who are sadly so caught up in their chaotic lives to see what is happening right in front of their own eyes.

Like the old addage says... "You can lead a horse to water..." well, you know the rest.

Aww dude-look, im CERTAINLY NOT trying to offend anyone, and i totally hear where yer comin from. Look, im a 36 year old ex-partying "head" who has simply grown realistic and in a complicated world is trying to simplify things. Your statement "Capitalism has turned an entire nation into people too busy to make an effort for change or see/feel a need to change things for future generations" makes ZERO sense to me. CAPITALISM "an economic or socio-economic system in which the means of production are overwhelmingly privately owned and operated for profit, decisions regarding investment of capital are made privately, and where production, distribution, and the prices of goods, services, and labor are affected by the forces of supply and demand in a largely free market" Now tell me what is so wrong with that?? Starting your own business, making money, investing for your future and your kids future, giving to charity. This is the foundation of this country Dem. or Repub. doesnt matter. and capitalism has NOT gotten me everything that i want, please DONT infer that i am shallow. I still have inner demons that i fight with. I still wish for my girl to grow up in a better world where little kids arent raped and kidnapped AND WHERE VERMONT JUDGES DONT SENTENCE THEM TO 60-DAYS!! But you issue blanket statements that are so general they cant possibly be defined. There may not be a future for our children?? Somehow i doubt that. Our kids are gonna grow up, drive us nuts, go to school (hopefully NOT Columbia) get jobs and become a functioning part of society. You think Capitalism is SO bad?? i have an Eastern European wife. Try living in Albania for 6 months, you wont think its so bad, trust me. It always makes me laugh how these people at Union Square wearing there Che Guerva shirts and yelling about how Socialism is the answer when IN REALITY if they were living in a REAL socialist country, like my wife did, they would be dragged off and beaten the first time they opened up thier mouth. You say were too busy to make and effort for change. what change, what direction, tell me? dont issue such a generalism. what, less dependance on foreign oil,? fine i TOTALLY agree with you. You wanna put Hillary in the White House, fine, im good with it. But what change are you insinuating? socialism? last time it was tried Lenin wound up killing milions. You say we our "sadly caught up in our chaotic lives?" again another cliche. What do you expect us to do? go fising for a month? We've got bills to pay, mouths to feed. I work a 50 hour week, my wife works a 30 hour week. You got a wife an kids? if so you must know what im talking about. Look, your not gonna pigeonhole me as some right wing wacko because as a New yorker ive become VERY liberal on a lot of issues, but i HAVE become a realist, AND fiscally conservative. I say the same thing OVER and OVER again: Keep my family as safe as possible and my taxes as low as possible.

---- You say were too busy to make and effort for change. What change, what direction, tell me? ----

From my initial post....

I never meant to insinuate that you are a right wing wacko, sorry if it came across that way. I do not HATE Capitalism, I just HATE what it has made us become. We are a nation of people oblivious to what is really going on around us and have become a lackadaisical society in that since we have had it so much better than most other countries we have become the judge and juries of other world ideologies. But don't get me wrong, I would never want to live anywhere else in the world but....

There are many factors of Capitalism that I am grateful to have, as you said; the ability to start your own business within a free market is what has given me the financial freedoms that I am grateful for. But even still, I hope that these freedoms will be extended to our next generation and the main point I had made in my initial post still stands.

Until we as a people stand up and change the political system, help initiate new laws holding politicians accountable for their crimes (i.e. NO MORE PARDONS), end lobbying on ALL levels, and separate politics from big business etc etc.... I can go on and on but I don't need to educate you on the perils of our society, you sound like you are very well educated yourself so I don't want to come across as patronizing.

I'm just a fellow New Yorker, fed up with the SYSTEM and afraid of the consequences of sitting back and continuing to be a completely complacent society of walking zombies, too tired to change the wrong direction we are heading in.

And BTW, I don’t expect you to take off for a month and go fishing, that’s the President’s job. LOL

Be well.

holding politicians accountable for their crimes- AGREE
NO MORE PARDONS - AGREE
end lobbying on ALL levels - AGREE (although probably not possible, politics=big money)
separate politics from big business - SEE ABOVE
I don't want to come across as patronizing - YOURE NOT
I'm just a fellow New Yorker - COOL, QUEENS HERE, YOU?
society of walking zombies - YOU LIKE GEORGE ROMERO TOO?

Seriously, the only way to change is to vote. And you know what, the moderate rational thinking liberal left NEED to take back there party, cuz people like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy DONT represent the majority of Americas liberals, this is WHY Clinton (Bill) was a 2-term president, because he was a rational thinking moderate democrat who appealed to a wide demographic. Hillary is a little more out there what with her "plantation" comments the other week, not good. Look at Howard Dean, i mean cmon! its embarrasing. Bill Clinton was a damm good president who did a lot of good things for this country, unfortunatley, national security was NOT one of them and thats why those loonys were able to get Visas and train in Miami Flight Schools and live in Jersey City rentals. Hopefully NOW we're cracking down on that. Ya wanna change things, vote. Ya wanna really change things, run for Congress. Hey, ya like the Grateful Dead? ever see any shows? -mazel

Grew up in Glendale Queens, moved upstate 20 something years ago. Never saw the Dead but i like their tunes.

HOWARD DEAN = Nutjob
HILLARY CLINTON = Serious contender unless she says any more stupid comments
JOHN KERRY = I was appauled at how Kerry's record was smeared but did not trust him (i.e. Skull and Bones), I voted for Nader.

Clinton was the best president this country has seen in quite a while, although he NEVER should have lied under oath. But at least HE testifed UNDER OATH, not like our current dicktator. Also, I believe Clinton tried to pass a few pieces of legislation in regard to national security but most of them died in congress. I'll have to research this more to find some specifics to be sure though.

I wish voting was the answer to solving our current problems but as I said in my initial post, when the candidates are both complete idiots, what choice does that leave us as a nation? Besides the fact that I DO NOT trust the current computerized voting systems in place primarily in many of the swing states. After seeing a video of an ex-computer programmer who worked for the govt explain how he was approached by a congressman to help write software that could play with the numbers I have my doubts that our votes are really being tallied. Sorry to sound like an extremist but I wish my heart was telling me otherwise.

As for running for Congress, I don't think I would have a chance, the only people winning congressional elections nowadays are people with buku financial backing. I mentioned financial security in my last post but I'm not that financially secure. LOL - Maybe the Mayor will lend me some money from his big stash.

Hope all is well in Queens.

Now you got me thinking of the Dead, gotta pull out one of their CD's from my collection and listen later.

Peace.

ok my bruthah---

heres the scoop, i assume you have a "winamp" player, if not goto winamp. com and blah blah blah

BUT, what i forgot, is that i think those are shn. files that are being streamed so you need a shnamp converter program:

HERE: take this link and scroll down to the shnamp links, WORST case scenario you may have to redownload an older version of winamp, but it should work:

http://www.bootlegarchive.com/tools.asp

Open the file dload, run the setup, it should map itself onto your winamp player. I dont think you even need to reboot! then yer good to go!

Then go HERE to access over 2900 GD shows (i prefer the crisp sbds.):

http://www.archive.org/audio/etreelisting-browse.php?collection=etree&cat=Grateful%20Dead

Good luck.....any probs let me know!

uh-oh, this aint empire895, tis rastamon. I'd noticed the 85 show you mentioned to him. Personally I've downloaded and streamed a couple 100 shows from the archive for @ 3yrs now. This one-
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=11616 does show an error messege now- "Error reading XML data"
I'll see if it's available at bt.etree or dimeadozen which i torrent alot from. Streams, I can rip with my Total Recorder and divide the wave with my CD Editor.
Maybe it's my PC, I'll reboot now.
